Work & Witness - "Reflections on My Trip to Argentina"
Lauren G. - age 9
Name two or three things that were different in Argentina from the US.
Argentina had taller trees. It was much warmer than here--no snow. It was nothing like I expected. There seemed to be a lot
less people. The grocery stores were much smaller than here. Their homes are different because they were all one story. There were so many,
many bikes there. Almost all the kids had a cell phone which surprised me. There weren’t as many rules as the US when we drove in cars. And
there were a lot more dogs than here. They were strays roaming in the streets.
What do you miss from Argentina?
Everything, every single thing...dogs, trees, grass, the people, Graciella. The people there seemed so sincere. That is what I
miss about Argentina.
What were some of the things that were different and what things were the same about the churches in Argentina?
The churches there seemed smaller than in the US. They both taught about God. We sang praise songs there too. There was a
pastor that preached. People came and accepted Christ after the Jesus film!
Did this trip teach you anything about Jesus that you had not known or thought of before?
It taught me that He is always with me and he gives me the power/strength to go other places and preach about Him and
build churches.
What do you think about Missions now?
I think about Missions as fun adventures just waiting for you, planned by God. It makes me feel happy inside and I know I
want to go around the world preaching. I think of Missions as blessings and I am not afraid of traveling around the world now.
Ryan G. - age 12
Name two or three things that were different in Argentina from the US.
Differences include the fact that there were very nice restaurants at gas stations there! The water quality was bad. There
weren’t as many cars and they were mostly older. The exchange rate was 3 pesos to one dollar.
What do you miss from Argentina?
I miss being able to go in the other lanes when we drive. I miss empanadas (pastries filled with meat). I miss the people
who live there.
What were some of the things that were different and what things were the same about the churches in Argentina?
The churches there didn’t all have Bibles, but they all had sermons about God.
Did this trip teach you anything about Jesus that you had not known or thought of before?
I saw how some people have to deal with life on the poor side of town. Jesus went to the poor when He taught. Those people
were poor and needed to be saved too.
What do you think about Missions now?
I think they are a lot of fun. And I want to go on one again. I really liked going there. It was a good experience for me.
